Legal Representation before the New Zealand Parole Board
In addition to privately funded parole applications we will represent clients who are eligible for legal aid or have been granted legal aid through the Ministry of Justice.
Legal Aid Criteria
In order to receive a grant of legal aid you must meet criteria set by the Ministry of Justice.
The criteria relates to:
- Financial means (income and assets)
- Merit of your case
- Whether you meet the legal aid policy guidelines
Legal aid is not necessarily free and you may be asked to make a contribution towards your legal fees depending on your means.
A lawyer helps ensure access to justice and can explain the legal requirements of parole and the expectations of the New Zealand Parole Board.
A lawyer can also assist with developing release plans and working with community organisations and family to formulate a comprehensive reintegration plan.
